If you’re at Sudbury Hall in Derbyshire during the Easter Holidays, don’t be surprised, if whilst walking through the Hall you happen across a sleeping princess, catch a glimpse of a wolf in the basement or feel certain you saw a little man made of gingerbread run between your feet.

Don’t be alarmed, you have simply arrived at Jill Perry’s latest exhibition.

After exhibiting alongside the work of Alien creator, Geiger and surrealist, Dali, in New York, Jill returns closer to home with ‘Dread & Wonder’, an intriguing collection of paintings exploring the world of storytelling.

Narratives have been borrowed for ancient mythology, legends and superstitions as well as fables, tales, rhymes and games.

Mainly working in acrylics, her highly detailed style and compelling realism demands attention, upon which the viewer is rewarded with the opening of a world of hidden images and awakened memories.

The exhibition is designed to compliment Sudbury Hall’s Museum of Childhood and is included in the Hall’s entrance fee.
